How to choose the correct material your artificial blooms are made from.
Materials:
Polyester: This is the most popular choice for faux flowers. This fabric creates the most life like blooms. Polyester is great at accepting dyes and creating dramatic colorful blooms.
Pongee: This is a thin woven silk fabric and is now made with a mix of silk, cotton and rayon. The flower will have a stiff feeling to the tough. Similar to a starched crunchy fabric.
Real Touch (Polyurethane): Flowers are soft to the touch with a spongy feeling. They are made from plastics and hard to get bright flower colors like you can from fabrics.
PVC- Polyvinyl Chloride: Mostly used to make fake pine.
Plastic: Not as bad as you think. Soft plastic is great for greenery and filler flowers because they can mold the flower and get a more delicate impression and detail.
Eva- Foam: I would stay away from this type of flower. They do not look real and super fake.
Tips on Arranging:
Make sure your stems have realistic details to them.
Look for curves in the stems, color of the stem should be similar to the real flower.
Examples: While the head of these Ranunculus look good the stems in a glass vase alone will scream fake. Use these type of flower stems in a non clear vase.
2. Add a small amount of water to a clear was it helps make them look more real.
